How to get to Porto

 Travel Information

Porto is the second largest city in the country with an area of 42 km2. It is located in the north of Portugal and in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, on the right side of the Douro River, close to its mouth.

By Air

Porto is served by Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) which is located some 15km to the north-west of the city centre.

Connections from the airport to the city center:

The airport is served by Line E of Porto Metro, linking it to downtown Porto.

Violet Line(E)
Daily regular departures every 23 to 27 minutes during almost the whole working period (from 06:08 to 00:42).
It runs from the Airport to the Dragão Stadium in 35 minutes.
Travelling from the airport to the city centre (Trindade Station) will take you only 31 minutes.
First buy your Andante ticket from one of the 4 ticket machines in the Metro hall (all have English instructions), cost of a single journey is 1.95 € and that includes the .50 cent Andante card.

Bus
Nº 601; 602
STCP Buses link the airport and the city. Individual fare is 1.20 €.
AEROBUS is a relatively fast connection between the Airport and downtown Porto, including the city's leading Hotels, every 30 minutes, from 07h45m till 19h15m. The fare is 4.00 € and the ticket is valid on all STCP lines, until midnight of the same day.

Taxi
The average fare for a taxi between the Airport and the city centre is around 20.00 €.

Please note:
Make sure you buy your "Andante" - ticket in advance. It is an either occasionaly or regularly rechargeable ticket, valid for the entire STCP network (buses), the metro, the tram, the funicular and the CP Porto urban train running Valongo-S. Bento-Espinho.

Railway Stations

Campanhã
Located in the eastern side of Porto, this railway station includes international services, the Alfa Pendular, services between cities and regions, and Regional and Suburban services, which enables the connection to several destinations in the country and abroad.

S. Bento
Located in the centre of the city, this railway station includes suburban and regional services, as well as services between regions, which enables the connection to the several destinations in the city. It also offers an international service for Vigo.
